jose's fame miss turkey trot -- famous turkey trot. we are in san jose in the middle of everything and i'm looking over your shoulder, this is one of the biggest thanksgiving day races in the country. >> reporter: yeah, that's right, and the costume contest is about to get underway. you can see there's some great costumes. there's indiana jones, we have super mario brothers, a robot. and even pacman, and it's going to be a lot of fun, judging is about to start, but in the next 45 minutes, the first race will begin. now, this is video of last year's turkey trot. it's the second largest race of its kind on thanksgiving day. a majority are participating in the 5 and 10 k. organizers have extended the deadline until 8:00 a.m., and we started seeing a lot more people starting to show up, and getting warmed up to race. >> i feel it's cool, like it's intimidated, but the fact that there are so many people you don't know, it's encouraging you to -- >> are you excited about burning calories? >> yeah, yeah. more excited about eating afterwards. >> reporter: all the registration funds raised

from san jose. the blurry headlights reflecting off of the water-soaked freeway, north 101 just north of 680. so there's a lot of standing water even here. no flooding reported for san jose at this intersection, but watch the on and off ramps. we're showing green all over the bay area. that means wet conditions obviously because it's still raining but the blue means puddling and ponding likely. very likely for 101 as well as 87. so that is an issue heading through downtown. i'm giving you that warning. at the dublin interchange, you do have a slow drive west and continuing down through sunol. the reason is a big rig accident blocking basically all functional lanes of the freeway for westbound 580. you do have the off-ramp open at 680 and that is the only way folks are getting by. the backup slowing just after you pass tassajara so another hour perhaps before they can clear that. so far that's the latest we have. north 680 heading through the windy, rain-soaked area into concord, there's an accident just before the split with 242. you see the blue on the right, the ponding and puddling

south now through san jose so you're seeing a lot of showers in the area, pockets of some moderate amounts of rainfall and a lot of strong gusty winds to go along with that. embedded in the system are cells that are producing moderate amounts of rainfall even some heavy rainfall as you move through. some reports now already over 6, 7" of rainfall in some parts of the north bay and still more to come. you can see this band that's making its way through the bay area now and some heavier cells as we take you in for a closer look. toward mill valley heavy rainfall in the area along 101 if you are traveling along here expect heavy rainfall and the possibility of some flooding now. a lot of that water is ending up in some of the basins now so we're likely to see some flooding in the creeks and streams. flash flood watches are up for the bay area and high wind advisories. we are not done. we'll see the storm system working through the bay area so, yes, the commute is going to be very dangerous, very treacherous. watch out for debris in the roads. of course, some ponding water, as well. we

and you can see on doppler radar lots of yellow out there. san jose it is seeing some showers right now, some heavier rain earlier. that's soon going to be picking up. you can see north in sunnyvale that we have some stronger storms that will be sliding in your direction. so if you are heading out be careful. we have the rain and some pockets of heavy rainfall into oakland, stretching across the bay into south san francisco. a little further to the north we can see the back side of the storm system. we mentioned the possibility of flooding in petaluma. they are seeing very heavy downpours right now. expecting some flooding along the penngrove stream there. so that's expected to rise as more of that water comes down the hill so some very stormy weather there. mill valley a strong cell headed there. flash flood watches up for much of the bay area. they have been extended for the weekend. we have a lot more rain to come. we'll have more on that coming up in just a few minutes. >> if you can leave later for your morning commute, gosh, it is just a mess in a lot of spots all across the bay a

francisco warmed to 58 degree. it was 58 in antioch you can see as well as livermore and san jose the toasty part of our area, 62 degrees. santa cruz was 63. so here is a look at our current readings. getting chilly. 37 in fairfield and already 40 in napa and santa rosa. 51 san francisco and 50 for oakland right now. we have 42 in livermore and 45 in san jose. and we will look for temperatures to be not as cold tonight thanks to the cloud cover that will insulate us a bit. it does look like showers will return by week's end and a pretty good rain maker expected next sunday as well as monday. the lows tonight will keep things a little above the freezing mark. santa rosa 33. 34 for napa by tomorrow morning. 47 for san francisco. 40s elsewhere around the peninsula and all wait down toward san jose. 43 and 41 in antioch. now here is the set up for tomorrow. high pressure is building in. you will notice pretty good looking frontal system to the north and west. most of the energy will stay to the north. tomorrow at least we will look for clouds and as the high builds in, it will bring warmer tempe
